Using Two Attorneys to Collaborate Together
If both of you want your own separate attorney, then the best approach is to get them to work together to arrive at an agreement.
This approach is called "collaborative law," if the attorneys agree that neither will represent either party in court if the settlement process fails.
This way the attorneys do not have any incentive to drag out the process.
In contrast, many family law attorneys do not want to settle a case early because they want to bill hourly for many months.
But, remember that you are in charge of your case, not the attorneys.
